This Sunday Sally and I led bird watching walks at the Millbrook Garden Centre near Gravesend. The guided walks for Millbrook customers lasted 1 hour and we were fortunate to find nesting woodpigeon, song thrush and blue tit. The song thrush having already reared one brood successfully is now incubating the eggs of her second brood! All of this action is taking place with customers walking past in full view of the nest! Millbrook are creating a wildlife area with bird hide. From the hide customers were able to see chaffinch, great tit and lots of other “garden birds”. Today about 20 customers joined in the bird watch and the special birds were great spotted woodpecker and red legged partridge. The Managing Director of Millbrook Garden Company joined in and discussed with us her plans for the development of the wildlife area. We were very busy but Sally managed to get this photograph of some greenfinch on one of the feeders.
