Has anyone had collared doves unsuccessfully nesting in their garden?
A friend of mine has had a bird in a nest in a palm tree near her house almost without interruption for the last six months. On occasions eggs have fallen from the tree, unbroken, but there has been no sign of food being brought to the nest for either the adult on the nest or any young. We have therefore assumed that there have been no young produced.
Given that this species has successfully spread across the world to the UK, it is hard to understand quite how if this is an example of their activity.
