I’ve just spent two days at Millbrook Garden Centre with Malcolm and Sally. It was freezing cold, grey and rather damp on occasions, but we had a great time showing birds to members of the public and making bird food with some of the younger visitors.
We also had the excitement of the most handsome slug I have ever seen! A Tiger or Leopard Slug – Limax maximus

Lovely picture
Please enter this record on the interactive map available on http://www.opalexplorenature.org/LeopardSlug where there is more information about these splendid creatures and other wee beasties …
Great half term activity is to try to find some of these creatures and add records to these maps …
Best wishes
Pauline
PS they do not eat healthy plants only rotting vegetation and sometimes, other slugs!
Thank you Pauline, I’ll be sure to enter the record. I was a little concerned to put something about a Slug – even a handsome one like this – on a piece about a garden centre. I am sure they will be delighted and relieved to know that they do not eat healthy plants. It should therefore happily remain within the confines of the wildlife section!
