You will remember that we spent some time at the School last June and July, helping them to assess what could be done to improve their wildlife area and pond. The school were setting up an Eco-group at the start of the 2012/13 school year and this is their first update . . . .
The Eco-group is up and running, meeting weekly on a Friday lunchtime. At the moment they are looking at usage of water within the school with the aim of making some suggestions regarding reducing this. This group is still being run by the Head of Geography and Science.
Whilst surveying the wildlife area another small pond has been discovered in the same area as the other one, a lot smaller, but even so, it might prove more accessible for curriculum usage. The Breakfast group is engaged with its bird watching pursuits and because of the generosity of the Grandfather of one of the group, we haven’t, so far, had to spend too much of the RSPB money!
. . . . . Thanks to Jenny for the report – I can’t wait to go back and see how they are getting on later in the year.
