Many of you will know that a State of Nature report was published recently. The report underlines the great loss of biodiversity in the UK and particularly the south-east. However you may not have seen this astonishing impassioned plea from Iolo Williams. It is well worth watching!

I have to say, it brought tears to my eyes: he’s perfectly right things do have to change.
I’ve listened to this speech three times now, and encouraged others to do likewise.
I’m committed, by being a field teacher into introducing young minds to nature and the awe and wonder of it all.
My frustrations are that even though we send children off ‘buzzing’ with enthusiasm ,awe-struck by what they’ve seen or caught on the reserve, understanding why everything has a place in nature and how it all links together is that, if they then, in a few years time, going looking for what they’ve seen again…it just won’t be there for them to see.
What a sorry state of affairs. 🙁
