bigbutterflycount

This weekend marks the launch of this year’s Big Butterfly Count.

It is really easy to get involved just spend 15 minutes in a sunny spot and note down how many of each species you see.  Then submit your results with the date and location at www.bigbutterflycount.org.

You can download an identification chart to help you and if you have a smartphone there is even a free butterflycount app!

You can do the survey in your garden, local park, fields, meadows, woods etc.  Want to do more?  Just do another survey in another location!

Good luck!  And post of comment here about what you saw.

  1. Grabbed 15 minutes at lunchtime and saw peacock and large white butterflies (plus several different bee species and some hornets – which are great insects).
