This year we are going to our local RSPB reserve, Cliffe Pools, for our volunteering day. After our success at Rainham Marshes last year, we now have a reputation to uphold so please come along and join us! Ben Newton, who is the RSPB Assistant Warden for North Kent Marshes, was involved in our Beach Clean event last year, and is looking forward to working with us again.
We aim to clear the rubbish that collects around the reserve, help to clear the paths and assist with some annual scrub clearance.
The date is Saturday 10th October, and we will meet at 10:00 am, at the car park off Salt Lane, and finish around 1:00 pm.
There will also be the opportunity to stay for some bird watching on the reserve at Cliffe or at nearby Northward Hill in the afternoon. Don’t forget to bring lunch and a warm drink (there are no cafe facilities available on site).
Please note the nearest toilets are in Cliffe village (near the church).
All tools will be provided, but please wear clothing suitable for the outdoors and weather. Please bring old gloves and wear steel toe cap boots if you have them – or else sturdy walking boots – wellies will not be necessary unless you prefer them.
So we have an idea of numbers, please let us know if you are interested in joining us, either leave a comment under this article via the website/facebook or via email, or speak to one of the committee members at one of our meetings.
Together let’s see what we can do! I look forward to seeing you there!
Paul
