It will be our great pleasure to welcome Peter Holden MBE who will be giving an inspirational talk entitled the “RSPB’s natural secrets”, exploring the RSPB’s nature reserves and some of the 13,000 species of wildlife that inhabit them.
Peter stated working for the RSPB in 1960; in 1975 he became the National Organizer for the Youth section of the RSPB, now the Wildlife Explorers – inspiring over a million children to enjoy nature. He developed the Big Garden Birdwatch, initially for children and then for all ages, making this now the largest ‘Citizen Science’ project in the world.
Peter has featured many times on television including on Blue Peter and Springwatch and has co-authored more than a dozen books, including the RSPB Handbook of British Birds, selling more than a million copies. In the 2009 New Year’s Honours List Peter was awarded an MBE for services to Nature Conservation.
The meeting takes place on Thursday, April 12th at Northfleet School for Girls, Hall Road, Gravesend, DA11 8AQ. It will start at 7:30pm and will finish at 9:45pm. There is plenty of car parking at the school. Click here for directions.
Our meetings are open to all. Admission is £3.50 for group members and £4.50 for non-members. This includes refreshments during the interval.
