Hello everyone and welcome to my first post. I would like to thank all of you that have commented on the newsletters and given me some good feedback – much appreciated and more to come.

Our groups website has been praised by many and is the envy of some others. This, naturally enough, is a combined effort, especially Alan ( webmaster ) Paul ( group leader ) the committee and many others that contribute so often on here ( trip reports, members posts etc ) If you would like to reply to any posts on the site, fear not – it’s easy. There are three boxes to complete. Firstly, your reply. Secondly, your name ( it doesn’t have to be your full name, however, it’s always nice to see who has posted ) Thirdly, your e mail address. This will not appear in your reply and is there to prevent scams where dubious others might try to obtain your address and send you spam e mails. Our website is secure, as much as possible and safe to use.  So, why not give it a try and join in the fun. You could reply to a recent indoor / outdoor meeting or something that interests you. It would be nice to see more replies and would be good feedback to the members. The first couple of your new posts have to be manually approved ( spam prevention ) after that, it’s all automatic.

Another point that has been raised is the gallery, where our members photos have been submitted. To see all of the latest additions, you have to sign up to Flickr. This is easy to do and can be found here. Once you have an account, you can then upload your own photographs and share with others. It’s completely free and has a large storage. The next step is to visit our website, click on the gallery link and send a request to Paul to join our Flickr photo group. Once it has been approved, you can upload your wildlife photos to the gallery so that others may see them. Easy to do and would be good to see more contributors. This is one of the latest photos to be added and you are very welcome to join in.

Finally, if you have any queries regarding the above, or any other matter that you would like to ask about, please feel free to contact me on newsletter@rspbgravesend.org.uk I will endeavour to answer you as soon as I can.

Similarly, you can contact any of the committee members on their e mails. You will find them under ‘ about us ‘ on the website. We look forward to hearing from you and happy birding.

Steve Cullum – Newsletter editor.
