This weekend the 30th British Birdwatching Fair will be held at Rutland Water, it is an opportunity for anyone interested in nature, wildlife and birds to meet like-minded people. There are many marquees housing many different organisations and companies, including travel, clothing, art, optics and camera equipment, everything in one place.
There are also several theatres and event marquees where many lectures and presentations take place throughout the weekend. Many wildlife presenters and well known authors will also be around during the weekend, so you never know who you will bump into!
Last year the Bird Fair raised £333,000 for BirdLife International’s Campaign ‘Saving paradise in the Pacific’, the second highest amount ever raised. This year all proceeds will be going to a project in Argentina to help protect Flamingos by the creation of the Ansenuza National Park, protecting up to 800,000 hectares – South Americas second largest waterbody and the fifth largest salt lake in the world.

If you do go along, pop along to Marquee 1, stand 37, and there might be a home made chocolate brownie for you (subject to availability – ie., how many people get there first!)
Look forward to seeing you there
Sue
Have a great time and it’s a shame that we couldn’t make it this year.
