Those of you with tickets will not need reminding that our coach trip to Pulborough Brooks is coming up this Saturday, 1st October.
This lovely reserve is set in the Arun Valley with views across wet meadows to the South Downs. We hope to see nuthatches and tits on the feeders by the visitor centre and fieldfares and redwings feasting on the berries in the hedgerows. Even the possibility of a passing spotted flycatcher, whinchat or redstart cannot be ruled out at this time of year! On the brooks we will be looking for passage waders, geese, swans, and a variety of ducks including wigeon, teal and shoveler who arrive to spend the winter here. There is also of course the woodland famed for its fungi to explore.
The reserve has hides, trails and a good visitor centre with tea room.
The coach will leave Gravesend Rail Station, Clive Rd, Gravesend, at 8.00 am and leave Pulborough at about 4.30 pm.
Remember to take your RSPB membership card if you are a member. There is an entry charge of £4 for those who are not RSPB members.
If you don’t have a ticket but want to join us, there may have been a few late cancellations – you can email Hazel here to find out: coachtrips@rspbgravesend.org.uk
