Welcome to the RSPB Gravesend local group website.
The Gravesend RSPB Local Group has a very full programme of events and activities planned for 2008. We have two series of indoor talks on birds and other wildlife; On Tuesday afternoons at Millbrook Garden
Centre and on Wednesday evenings at St Botolph's Church Hall. See our Indoor Meetings page for location details. We also have two series of outdoor visits to "birding hotspots" on Tuesdays and Saturday/Sundays. See our Outdoor Trips page for more information. We have regular volunteer work groups that carry out conservation work on the North Kent Marshes and we also have other volunteering opportunities such as open days, fairs and fetes.
Full details of all of these can be found in our 2008 programme or contact Malcolm.
All of our activities and events are open to all - RSPB members and non–members - and we will try hard to make you feel welcome!
If you would like to find out about some of our past events then look at our newsletters and our news feed pages.
North Kent is a very busy place! The area is part of the Thames Gateway development project but it also has areas of high national and international conservation value. The Thames and Medway estuaries and the
adjoining freshwater marshes hold important concentrations of breeding, passage and wintering populations of birds and other wildlife. The RSPB is a major landowner in the area and has a number of reserves, known
collectively as the North Kent Marshes, from Gravesend to Whitstable. The Gravesend Group, along with the Bexley, Medway and Canterbury RSPB local groups, works hard to support the RSPB in our area.
For more information about our group see the other pages on this website or contact Malcolm. For more information about the RSPB and links to other local groups go to www.rspb.org.uk.
