December Trip to Cliffe Pools

Ten members met at RSPB Cliffe Pools car park. Although it was not too cold, it was very murky and raining heavily as we all arrived. Whilst getting sorted out, woodpigeon, herring gull and a magpie were seen. At 10am, miraculously, the heavy rain almost ceased as we went and looked over Crystal Pool. Here […]

Autumn has arrived and a merry band of seven well prepared group members met at Rainham Marshes on a very wet Sunday morning.  It seemed as if the house sparrows were feeling in a similar mood – as we gathered in the shelter of the visitor centre, they were gathering under the bird house feeder […]

Grove Ferry

Ten members met at the Grove Ferry car park.    The temperature was in the low teens and the sky was cloudy but with some blue showing.    It was agreed that we would walk to Stodmarsh car park for lunch following the central path taking in the view point and hides along the way. […]

"Bee" Walk at Cliffe Pools RSPB Reserve

On Tuesday we had our second “bee” walk, organised for us by Nikki Gammans of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. (The first was at Dungeness RSPB reserve).  We were met at Cliffe Pools RSPB reserve by Rosie of Buglife and, after an introductory talk, we set off armed with nets and plastic pots. To begin with […]
