Whilst trying to do some tidying up in the garden yesterday I happened across two discoveries in as many seconds. The first was the pictured bird’s nest – low down in a holly bush. Although remarkably neat and tidy, there was no evidence of use sadly.
I needed to trim a few branches of the holly bush to get past it without being lacerated and as the leaves piled up I noticed the small white ‘smudges’ on the underside of the leaves. I can’t trace what they are so far, so if anyone in the Group has an idea I’d be very grateful.

I’ve just been told it could be Southern red mite eggs (Oligonychus ilicis). Just shows what a knowledgeable group you are.
