Well here we go with my first walk of the year. My plan was to explore the lake and the reed beds along Thames Way, Northfleet. I have always thought it must be worth a look, so now was the time.
The lake was formed from former chalk extraction and has now filled with water providing a great lake habitat for wildlife. There were birds in the reeds and surrounds including coot, great tit, long-tailed tit, wood pigeon, robin, blue tit, crow, blackbird and magpie.
Species seen on the lake included: common gull, black-headed gull, great-crested grebe, moorhen and a flock of around 30 tufted duck.
It was a nice walk with plenty more to explore in the future.
